REFRAMING MATERIAL CULTURE

Nowadays we still need to break down the rigidity of categories. Especially with regard to the production of consumer goods and our relationship with the world of objects, we need to overcome certain pre-established parameters typical of a traditional industrial mentality.

Due to the current socio-economic situation, some designers and artists have iden- tified a new intention in the use and interpretation of objects, which analyzes the production system based on the awareness of the serial and wild overproduction we are experiencing. This approach has generated a rejection of the anonymous formulas of this industrial production and the standardization of aesthetic canons, even to the point of questioning the very meaning of functionality.

Reframing Material Culture aims to generate a space with a transversal approach in which to expand the reflections that can be made around the world of material culture and production intended for consumption today, seeking to question the foundations, categories, and labels in order to move forward in a way that is more consistent with contemporaneity.
