In the realm of human experience, touch serves as a bridge connecting us to the world around us. It’s an instinctive form of communication, enabling us to explore, understand, and interact with our environment. Through touch, we engage with the world.
Touch can be intimate, exciting, intrusive, and violent. Moving in the spectrum of different touch, we necessarily encounter the concept of boundaries. Those can be physical, such as a fence or a wall, or abstract, such as a legal or social norm. Boundaries serve to delineate and protect spaces, roles, and relationships, helping to define where one thing ends and another begins.
The exhibition “Intimate Surfaces” encourages reflection on how touch blurs and defines boundaries – between self and other, artist and viewer, instinct and restraint. It takes an intersectional feminist perspective to examine societal norms and the possibilities touch can offer. This exploration reveals the interplay between the tactile and conceptual, sparking discussions on the ongoing dance between touch and boundaries in the human experience.

Allies & Anger & Boundaries

Building upon the concept of queer allies, we will explore alliances within a broader gender context, also its relation with boundaries. We will discuss the different uses of anger and our relationship with it, understanding its dual role in either obstructing or facilitating the establishment of alliances.
